Advanced Fiction Writing
Diane McKinney-Whetstone profile

W 2-5

Through intensive writing, critiquing, collaborating, revising, students will discover the real story percolating just below the first draft of a work-in-progress. We will explore character development/motivation, voice, sense of place, operant themes, and story lines as they present themselves in the students' works. Emphasis will be placed on forward movement of the work and students will be required to make the leap from first draft of a story or novel portions to a textured, publishable piece.
