This course is a writing workshop. We will be studying J.L. Austin's famous Harvard lectures on linguistics, "How To Do Things With Words," as well as Natalie Goldberg's "Wild Mind" and various critical articles on performative writing. Mostly, we will be writing, in class, every day, exploring what it means and how to experience writing that is intended to be performed. Each of you will write a performance piece as a final project.
