MTWR 10:40-12:15

This class is designed to make students familiar with a selection of Shakespeare's plays. Emphasis will be on a thorough knowledge of each play and the concerns developed in it. In addition, we will try to situate each text within the historical context of Renaissance England, in terms of the social, political and cultural concerns reflected in the plays, and the Renaissance practices of education and writing within which these remarkable literary documents were produced. Grade will be based upon examinations of the students' knowledge of the plays, and on one paper. This course fulfills the Arts and Letters section of the General Requirement. Prompt attendance is required.
