Robert Regan profile

MW 3-4:30

Fiction of the American South will be the subject of this seminar. We shall start with Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn and end with Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses.  Between those two we shall encounter novels and short stories by Zora Neale Hurston, Eudora Welty, William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, and two or three other writers.  Writing assignments should total fifteen to twenty pages and may take the form of several short essays or one long one as the individual student chooses. \Class participation will take the place of exams.
