M 4:30-7:10

An intensive survey of great works from the 14th through the 17th century, intended to introduce students to the major periods of English literary history as well as to masterpieces by the major writers.  Assignments include selections from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, Spenser's Faerie Queene, at least one play by Shakespeare, and Milton's Paradise Lost.  In addition, selections from other Renaissance texts will be assigned.
