After a brief look at some earlier poets--chosen from among Wroth, Bradstreet, Robinson, Wheatley, Barrett Browning, Dickinson, & Rossetti--this course will concentrate on the 20th century: Lowell, H.D., Moore, Millay, Wylie, Teasdale, Bogan, Bishop, Brooks, Miles, Sexton, Plath...and our contemporaries, Rich, Kumin, Gluck, Gallagher, Broumas, Hacker, Giovanni, Dove, Levertov, Olds. Don't see your favorite? Don't despair; see the instructor before the term begins to make your requests. Course requirements: in-class presentation, short paper, longer paper, and active class participation.
