Advanced Expository Writing
Karen Rile profile

MWF 10

This workshop-style course will focus on the technique of writing non-
fiction.  Students will complete weekly exercises designed to
illuminate specific issues of style and form, plus at least three
finished essays (to be distributed in advance for class discussion),
one major revision, and one long book review of a current work of
literary fiction or non-fiction.  Readings from contemporary authors
and the work of fellow classmates will be discussed at each class,
during which active, thoughtful participation will be essential. (See
note following English 113.)
