Stage-Centered Approaches to Shakespeare

TR 10:30-12

Prerequisite: Theatre 120 OR 121 (or their equivalent).  Through
specialized readings, written assignments, and in-class acting
exercises, the class will develop methods of interpreting
Shakespeare's plays through theatrical practice.  Topics include
Shakespeare's use of soliloquy, two-and-three person scenes, the
dramatic presentation of narratives source material, modes of defining
and presenting the "worlds" of the plays, and the use of theatrical
practice to establish authoritative texts.  Regular writing
assignments, plus two mid-term papers and a final written project.
