English 800.301: Teaching of Literature and Composition.� Students in this class will each teach an identical section of English 003, Writing About Literature and Society, with a focus on cultural controversies in contemporary America.� English 800 will serve as a workshop for first-time teachers, an introduction to the field of rhetoric and composition, and a graduate seminar on pedagogical theory and contemporary cultural study. Work for the class will include participation in a December mini-conference on controversy and pedagogy, a 10-page essay, and several shorter assignments.
