Renaissance Materialities

This course has two different aims: first, to explore forms of materiality in the Renaissance; second, to develop research skills. We will focus upon the material forms of texts, of reading and of writing and upon the body and its transformations. The primary texts for the course are the Bible, Spenser's Faerie Queene,Hamlet, and the poetry and prose of John Donne.
