Seminar in 18th Century Literature
John Richetti profile

W 12-3

This seminar will study the works (and the intertwined biographies) of Pope, Swift, and other writers who were involved with them as ideological, cultural, and (especially) political allies or antagonists. Our effort will be to understand the special literary and political milieu in which writing took place in the early eighteenth century. Each student will be required to present several reports to the seminar and to write a long (25 page) seminar paper.
